PASC Annual Banquet

Once again PASC members and friends gathered at the Diamond Palace Cuisine for the Annual Banquet, one of the most popular PASC events of the year, to celebrate Diwali and New Year. Each year this event easily draws about 250 people, and this year was no different despite smaller venue. In fact, the smaller event gave it an intimate feeling as it brought families and friends together during the entertainment and dinner.

As usual, the event was well organized with entertainment events, delicious Indian gourmet dinner, raffle prizes, dancing, professional photographer and DJ. The entertainment included wonderfully choreographed dance performances by various age groups to Bollywood songs and an upbeat modern garba routine, instrumental music performance of classic songs, and a surprise event featuring three couples, where each of the husbands serenaded a classic love song from the film ‘Waqt', to their wives. Finally, the two long time MCs were honored for providing their invaluable services for the past years. The ladies from the PASC committee also passed out a box of methai to each family to add to the festive mood of Diwali.

The many raffle prizes included gift cards (Shirish & Lata Mistry and Mahendra & Pratibha Mistry), $100 Visa gift certificate (Pravin & Jyoti Lad), dvd (Chandra and Daksha Mistry), cd-dvd combo (Raju & Pushpa Mistry), dvd players (Ashish & Anita Bhagat), multimedia speakers (Sailesh & Bhavna Mistry), wine and fruit gift package (Manhar & Rekha Mistry), glass fruit bowl (Pratish & Anita Mistry), electronic appliances (Ishwar & Prabha Mistry and Dinesh & Pushpa Mistry), champagne brunch (Diamond Palace Cuisine), gift package for a dinner or two nights at a nice hotel (Nitin & Priti Mistry), and for the grand prize, an iPod Nano (Chiman and Jashu Lad). The participants were then awarded Baskin Robbins gift certificates (Navnit & Tara Mistry) in appreciation for their great efforts.

The PASC Committee wish to extend special thanks to the four families (Chhotubhai & Maniben Mistry, Dilipbhai & Dakshaben Mistry, Dineshbhai & Pushpaben Mistry, and Pravin & Jaya Lad) that donated $250 to PASC and also thanks to Mahendra Mistry for matching their contributions. Special thanks go to the following families that donated the wonderful raffle prizes, and the families that prepared the delicious methais. Also, thank you to all the performers and families for another amazing entertainment show. Last, but not least, thank you to all the PASC committee members and their families for organizing a spectacular event.

Keep the PASC banner flying. Happy Diwali and New Year to our members and their families from the PASC Committee.

September 10, 2005:
Bhajan & Garba Night

The PASC 2005 Bhajan and Night was a great success following the decision of the committee to house it at the new venue of the Ram Kabir Mandir in Carson.  The temple setting was ideal for the devotional bhajans sung by all the PASC members, with special emphasis on the active participation of the youth in both the singing, dancing and helping out.  The selection of bhajans were wonderful and the help of the practices really showed off.  The Garba and Raas music were inviting and members did not want the night to end.

This year's dinner was provided by Raj, Jayant, Ranjit, Dilip, Pratish and Sharda Mistry and families in memory of their father's 30th anniversary of death, and similar sponsorship for the upcoming years was proposed for other PASC families.

The positive response from our community means we look forward to another great event in 2006, so keep your eyes and ears open for flyers and web news to participate.

Annual Picnic

The 2005 PASC Annual Picnic on May 1st was held at a new venue at the Rosecrans Regional Park which provided a wonderful setting to house the event, with plenty of play and shaded sitting areas. The weather was perfect and it was a good opportunity to socialize and mingle with fellow PASC members.

The "Hawaiian" themed committee organized the event which included lots of varieties of delicious bar-b-que, luncheon and desert items filled with plenty of fun and games for the tiny PASCites to the PASC adults and grandmas, throughout the entire day. Apart from the games, other events included face painting, pinata bashing and the ever favourite water balloon fights. The grounds provided a perfect pitch for the cricket lovers in our samaj. Finally to top it all was the grand event of Chai and Bingo.

Thanks to all the members who attended and contributed towards a successful event.

Bowling Night

PASC Bowling Night on April 2nd turned out to be a huge success. Approximately 70 members turned up for this event. Teams of 6 were divided up into 13 lanes and bowled the night away. There was a lot of interest to have a re-run of this event, so stay tuned for the next venue. Pictures for this event can be found here.
